Portions

Big plates usually means big portions.  At least that is what my husband believes.  So, in order to get healthy we have decided to use different plates.  We have 2 sets, a large set and a smaller set.

I can't remember where I heard/saw it, but to help with portion sizes, a simple solution is to use a smaller plate! Makes sense!  So, that is what we are doing now.  It really has helped.  And if you want seconds, that's okay because your first serving was relatively small.

So start small to a healthier you and use smaller plates at dinner time!

  1. It's crazy how true this is...one other trick we do at our house is to serve ourselves at the counter...in Jesse's large family, dinner was over when the food was gone. In the beginning of our marriage he was way over eating and I finally realized it was because he subconsciously felt the need to eat until there was nothing left...there's a strange psychology to the way people eat and if you can identify traditions like filling your plate, and trick yourself by using a smaller one or leave food at the counter so you can't see how much is left and so on, then you can really improve your diet.
